Writer’s Corner World Highlights

(Article: Dec. 2024): Volume 1. Issue: 1: “The Green Wall Miracle in Africa,” in Africa, the Great Green Wall or Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel, is a project adopted by the African Union in 2007. Initially conceived as a way to prevent and reverse desertification in the Sahel region and hold back expansion of the Sahara desert, success continues to thrive! By developing water holding small-circular dugouts, and planting a wall of trees stretching across the entire Sahel region from Djibouti to Dakar, this innovative project has created thousands of acres, of ideal “Green” plants, tree’s and water , for various species. A huge win for mother earth to reclaim barren dessert into lush, green habitat, which helps with cleaning the air, and provides additional shelter, food and sustenance for wildlife and thousands of local villagers. The ongoing goal of the project is to restore, 100 million hectares (250 million acres), of degraded, dry, barren land, and at the same time, capture 250 million tons of carbon dioxide, and create millions of new jobs by 2030. This is a perfect example that shows collectively, how we can improve on what we have been left , and that by working together, we can make the world a better habitat for all living things.
